According to swedish law, regulation (2007:976) with instructions for The Swedish National Board of Forensic Medicine, shall be particularly responsible for development work, research and support for research of importance to the operations. The Swedish National Board of Forensic Medicine has a special position as the only national actor within its areas of operation and through this a responsibility to contribute to the development of knowledge within the authority’s subject areas of forensic genetics, forensic toxicology, forensic medicine and forensic psychiatry. The overall goal of the research is to produce results that develop the quality of the operations and ensure continued high competence within the authority.
